Docosahexaenoic Acid, or DHA, is a long-chain omega-3 fatty acid found in fatty fish and produced in concentrated form from fish or algal oils. It is a structural lipid in neural and retinal tissues and is used in omega-3, maternal-nutrition, and infant-nutrition products. DHA often appears on labels next to EPA, yet the two are chemically distinct and can be present in very different ratios; product comparisons should therefore use the specific DHA amount rather than only the total oil or omega-3 claim.
